Developed the whisking subsystem for a fully automated countertop matcha machine.
The subsystem consists of the following components: a rotating disk with an extruded pin, a yoke slider, a stepper motor with shaft collar, a drive shaft, a whisk, and a whisk collar with attachment hardware.
How this works?
A stepper motor drives the disk, whose extruded pin moves the yoke slider and converts rotational motion into linear movement of the shaft and attached whisk.
How was this made?
All structural components, including the disk, yoke slider, and collars, were fabricated via FDM 3D printing. The whisk, drive shaft, spring plungers, and motor were sourced as off-the-shelf components.
Favorite Component:
The whisk attachment system. Spring plungers, positioned on opposing sides of the whisk collar, allow the whisk to be inserted and removed by hand. The plunger compresses during insertion and slides into place once rotated. This mechanism was chosen to allow for cleaning and component replacement.
