For Cornerstone of Engineering, my team of 4 designed an interactive marble-run game for the Boston Children's Museum. The goal was to create a hands-on educational game that was safe, durable, and fun for young visitors. I focused on prototyping, testing, and building the game using CAD, power tools, and programming.
I used CAD to design the parts, power tools to build the structure, and Arduino to program a sensor that tracked each player's score. We went through multiple rounds of testing and improved the design after each one to make it safer and more engaging for children. During the museum visit, the sensor stopped reading the scores correctly. We quickly switched to a manual button to count points, so the game kept running without interruption.
More than 50 children played the game at the Boston Children's Museum, and the backup button kept the experience smooth despite the sensor failure. This project strengthened my skills in prototyping, user-centered design, problem-solving under pressure, and teamwork.
